mele kalikimaka

It’s that time of year!  Too bad I have Mele Kalikimaka stuck in my head.  The whole flight over to Kauai on our Honeymoon, Kris sang it to me and I had no idea what he was singing.  So, in case you haven’t been schooled, here it is:

Now you can have it stuck in your head, too!

We had a great celebratory weekend for Kris’s birthday. We’ve gotten almost all of our Christmas shopping finished (YAY!) and it’s not even December 1st yet! And to top that, I spent about 2.5 hours today wrapping everything! Go ahead, call me Mrs. Kringle. Mrs. Kris Kringle ;) I know, lame joke. Dodging the tomatoes.

In other news, we rearranged our bedroom and I LOVE IT. I was so anti-our bedroom since we moved in, but now it makes so much more sense! Plus we hardcore cleaned. Kris wants a funky old area rug for the floor, so we’re on the lookout for that. I’ll post pics if we find anything at the SoLina Auction anytime soon.

For your daily puppy update, Nimbus is as sassy as ever. He will get coal in his stocking (and maybe a new tennis ball if Santa feels generous).

You have the funniest sense of humor. I love the way you make me laugh all day, every day, even when I don’t feel like laughing and I’m being a stick in the mud. You can ALWAYS make me crack a smile! And I love the way you love our puppy. Even though Nimbus is our furry child, I get to see little glimpses of what a great father you’re going to be when you care for him. What a wonderful day it will be when we get to hold our first baby!

I love your style, I love our radio station, I love our little bungalow and our life together. I love your specs! I love that we live close to our families and we’re getting to watch our little sister and nieces grow up.

But most of all, I love the way you love Jesus. With all of your heart. You don’t hold back anything, and you just tell it like it is. You’ve helped me learn how to be bold in my faith. There’s no way I’d be where I am without your encouragement. I look forward to sharing decades of birthdays with you – I love you!

Blogs that you should visit.

It’s the day before Thanksgiving which means I am wrapping up my work week and baking an insane number of pies. I don’t have anything intelligent to share with you and I just realized that I don’t think I’ve ever shared my “blog favs” with you.

These are the blogs that I visit every day. Without fail (or whenever the writer updates them). You should check them out, too.

Hello friends! Happy Thanksgiving week! I just wanted to let you all know that I am very thankful for all of my blog friends (even those of you who don’t comment!) Writing this blog is such a joy and I am grateful for the chance to be creative, chronicle our Meade journey, and continue developing friendships with you.

Hope that you have a wonderful Monday!

And she’s back! (Perhaps for one night only! I just can’t guarantee it anymore.)

This little bloggity has gotten major neglect in the past week. I can’t help it. I have been utterly exhausted and preoccupied with some real life things.

First of all, Laurie Beth and I went to see New Moon on Friday and it was TOTALLY worth the wait. I can’t even start to tell you my thoughts because I haven’t processed it all…just that it was amazing. And I will go back again before it leaves the theaters. The theater in Florence was more jam-packed than I’ve ever seen it before and the line just to get into the theater was ridic. While we were driving in and getting a parking place, I was yelling at the poor chap in front of me, “TAKE IT TAURUS, TAKE IT!” LB surely did get to see my defensive driving skills. I definitely may have gotten misty-eyed about 5 times during the film, and I just adore Edward and Bella. New Moon is my least-favorite book and I really hated Jacob after I read it. Since seeing the movie, I have compassion for the poor kid. But, just like Bella said, “I will choose him. It’s about him. It has always been about him.” (For those non Twi-hard, she’s talking about her love for Edward. The vampire.) Take that warewolf!

And for the cliffhanger at the end of the movie…HA! You could tell who hadn’t read the books because they were like, “WHAT!? WHAT HAPPENS!?” And we are like, “HA. We already know.” I told LB that I wanted to set up a table outside the theater with a sign that said, “I’ll tell you what happens for $20!” I would have made bank.

So tonight is a test run for my Thanksgiving desserts. I am currently baking an apple pie. I’m not so sure how it’s going to turn out and my husband compares my apple pie-baking to his grandmother’s…so it’s like, why do I even try, but here I am trying. I’m also going to make a pumpkin pie and a chocolate trifle. I got the recipes from my favorite recipe website, Allrecipes.com.

Spastic, as usual. Hope you had a great weekend.

hey girlfriends.

(…and 3 men who may read this blog.)  Missed ya’ll!  Kris has been shooting his short film all weekend and I have been on set with him doing makeup and helping coach the actors.  It has been a BLAST but we sure are exhausted!  I also started my new job yesterday, which is incredible, so it’s like a double whammy.  I fell asleep last night on the couch at 8:30PM after fighting to keep  my eyes open for an hour, and Kris got home around 10:00 and laughed at me.  I couldn’t even tell him how my day went because I had no words!  (And when am I ever at a loss for words?!)  I even bought a frozen Kashi pizza for dinner because I was too tired to cook.  I directed Kris to the cabinet when he got home and said, “Go make some ramen.”

What?  Am I in college?  I made my husband eat ramen?  He survived. (Mom – I’m sorry and I know it’s not nutritious.)

Here are some photos that I took with my Crackberry over the weekend from the set of With Love, Emma.

For the sake of being honest.

I think that pregnant women are the most adorable women in the world.  You are glowing.  You are expecting.  You are excited.  My best friend is pregnant and she is all of the above.

But.  I have an issue that I’d like to voice, and it’s my opinion, so don’t get mad.

Prego ladies, please don’t post photos of your bare bump on the internetz.  Especially photos of your bare bump with your baby’s name finger painted on it.

Also, one ultrasound photo is sufficient… not 35.

And I’m also kind of weirded out by the stick that you peed on to get your results.  So no photos of that either.

But.  You can post a gazillion photos of your fully clothed growing baby bump and I promise I will enjoy your Facebook album and get super excited for you, cause hey, you’re having a baby and you are ADORABLE!

We cool?  K.  Thx.

Kris does not have H1N1 and I took the nasal vaccine!  Thank you Jesus!
